It is with great pleasure and enormous pride that we welcome you to our school.
As parents you are about to make an incredibly important decision about your child’s future. The choice of school should depend on a range of reasons that include your child’s academic progress, social/emotional wellbeing as well as their individual talents and skills.
We believe in strong partnerships between home and school. We encourage you to become active participants in your child’s education and we welcome your contribution. By being actively involved you are sending your child a very positive message that school and education is extremely important.
At Wilandra Rise Primary School, we are all about making a true difference to the young people in our care. We seek to grow each student to their unique potential, to develop their academic skills, their ability to manage themselves and their relationships with others, to value and contribute to others both with and beyond the school community and to value a sustainable future.
We aim for each child to value respect, responsibility, safety and compassion. Our school is committed to implementing a whole school approach to Respectful Relationships.
We offer a comprehensive and extensive program for pre-school children prior to their first year of school. Our Transition Program commences officially in Term four and encompasses a number of sessions throughout the term that provides opportunities for your child/ren to feel safe and comfortable with both our beautiful facilities and teaching staff.
Students at Wilandra Rise Primary School enjoy a positive and supportive environment with both progressive and extensive programs across all areas of the curriculum. We have specialist programs in visual arts, performing arts, science, environmental science, physical education, Spanish and multi-Media.
We promote student wellbeing programs such as: values, restorative justice, circles, student leadership development, Inquiry learning, ICT, robotics, computer coding and a whole range of extra curricula activities that is derived from our collective student interests. These programs help students understand their role in our school, local and global community.
Our school is committed to ensuring Child Safe Standards are implemented in all areas across the school and is part of our everyday practice of All Groups within the school community.
In addition to the core curriculum that includes protected time on a daily basis for reading, writing and numeracy, the school also offers a daily literacy intervention, maths extension, keyboard/piano, choir, drums, ensemble, soccer, basketball and myriad of lunch time clubs and games that children are encouraged to join.
We look forward to sharing your child’s educational journey with you in the years ahead at Wilandra Rise Primary School.
Regards,
Tina Clydesdale
